Introducing… One Team Gov Wales

One Team Gov, you say? Indeed. In June 2017, policymakers, service designers, digital professionals and cross-sector experts came together in London to talk about how they could work across disciplines to make government more effective. This is One Team Gov and it’s working to the idea that by bringing teams together to work in a truly multi-disciplinary way, we can offer better services to the public, give better advice to ministers, and make the civil service more effective. The One Team Gov site explains what it is and how it started.
Representatives from the Co-production Network for Wales are part of a (small but growing) group who are organising a One Team Gov event to expand the network into Wales. We believe this can unite networks of people, and support us to share skills and learn lessons from each other’s roles and areas of expertise. One Team Gov Wales are organising a first event which will take place in Cardiff on 22nd January 2018. Save the date!
It will be an unconference. This format creates space for peer-to-peer learning, collaboration and creativity. Watch this space for more info which will be published in due time about the event itself. But in the meantime, if you’re interested in the concept, want to keep up with developments, &/or be a part of bringing this together:
– There is a One Team Gov Slack team, join the #OneTeamGovWales channel. (If this made no sense to you, read this first, it should help.)
– We are currently holding weekly meet-ups, every Wednesday at 4:30pm, in Companies House, Cardiff. We’d love you to be involved in this. Contact [email protected] if you’re unsure, or if you are sure just turn up! (Ask for the One Team Gov planning meeting at Companies’ House reception, it’s held in the training room on the ground floor).
– There are already some blog posts on Medium tracking the process of One Team Gov at a national scale, but the One Team Gov Wales channel will be appearing soon. (We are making it as we speak.)
We would love you to be involved, whether you keep an eye on what’s happening, save the date to attend the event, or come and be part of organising it. Hope to see you online or in person. Let’s reimagine public services.
