Co-evaluation

Understanding what works – together

Co-evaluation brings together the people involved in a project, service or piece of work to understand what is making a difference, what could be improved and what should happen next.

Rather than evaluating services from the outside, co-evaluation involves people in understanding and learning from their own experiences.

It helps organisations:

  • Learn from different perspectives
  • Build shared understanding
  • Improve services and outcomes
  • Develop practical recommendations for the future

Most importantly, it ensures that learning and improvement happen with people, not to them.

“Working with the Co-production Lab Wales was refreshing and insightful.… Practically, we learnt new monitoring and evaluation methods like the ‘magic moment’ and ‘most significant change’ – these will be so helpful to us not only for this project but in other areas of our work to ensure we are able to gather qualitative insight into how our approach to engagement is felt by those working with us. Through [the associates] expertise, gentle leadership and compassionate approach, we were able to work with new partners, listen to new experiences and further develop our approach to trauma-informed engagement in Wales.”
