We have a commitment to working in an accessible and inclusive way.
We advocate for and aim to embody the principles of accessibility and inclusion, in everything we do. We also recognise that there is always more that we can do, and learn. This is why it is important to us that we are upfront about the ways in which we work, and that we remain receptive to comments and feedback that will assist us in doing and being better.
Below is a summary of the ways in which we strive to be as accessible and inclusive as possible. If you see a gap, or have a suggestion for how we could improve, please send us an email via [email protected]. We will work with you to further our understanding and practice.
Equally, if you feel we have fallen short of the standards we have set ourselves below, please let us know - we are all human and make mistakes from time to time, but we know the importance of recognising and rectifying those. We encourage you to hold us to the standards we set ourselves.
Website accessibility tools
Our websites have an Accessibility Tools menu (this can be found in the top right hand corner, with an icon representing a person in a double circle) which enables users to:
- increase the text size
- decrease the text size
- turn the colours to grayscale
- switch to high contrast colours
- switch to negative contrast colours
- switch to a light background
- underline the links
- adjust the fonts to readable ones
Making sure links are screen reader accessible
When sending out electronic communications via our mailing list, we will always embed links into the text in a way that makes it easy for those using screen readers to identify where they should click for more information.
Using image descriptions
Where images are used in our electronic communications, we will include descriptions of what those images are, so that those who can’t see the images can still understand what they are trying to convey.
Subtitles and transcripts for video resources
Wherever possible we will include subtitles in English and in Welsh on our videos, and generate transcripts of the audio content. We do not have the capacity to subtitle and transcribe every video we produce (for e.g. the catch-up recordings of our weekly #CoproMonday events), but we will ensure we do so when producing videos that are designed to serve as a long term resource (e.g. our “what is co-production” video).
Asking about accessibility needs for events
As part of the registration process for our events, we will always ask if participants have any additional needs that we could accommodate to improve their experience, and take this into account for our event planning and delivery.
Participation in online events (on Zoom or on Teams)
We encourage attendees to participate how they feel is most comfortable and constructive for them in our online meetings, training and webinars. This includes turning cameras on or off, contributing using the chat function or voice, and using reactions. We aim for everyone to be able to participate fully in the way that best works for them.
